Genital herpes is contagious appeared between exacerbations
Mathematical model, built by American scientists suggests that the virus of genital herpes continues to proliferate with little intensity in nerve cells even without exacerbation of the disease, according to Science NOW. Previously it was thought that in such times it is "dormant" in the DNA of neurons, showing no activity and without causing infection.
Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2), which mainly causes lesions on the genitals, but can also affect the lips, and the central nervous system is infected with approximately every fifth inhabitant of the Earth. After infection (usually sexually) virus from nerve endings in the skin enters nerve cells incorporating into their DNA. In most cases, it is there, without causing disease, but 20 percent of infected active multiplication of the pathogen leads to a periodic appearance of painful rash.
Previously it was thought that the virus is exacerbations of "dormant" in the neurons, and only its molecular product at this time - this RNA transcript latent stage, which quickly breaks up into microRNAs that block the synthesis of new virus infection hiding from the immune system.
However, research over the last decade have shown that HSV-2 is sometimes found in infected people on intact skin of the genitals, which contradicts this view.
Scientists from the Center Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research and the University of Washington in Seattle have built a mathematical model based on multiple data inspection patients and biological studies, including quantification of HSV-2 in patients who have passed four stroke with genital skin for 60 days.
The model showed that nerve cells are constantly emit a small amount of virus in the skin of the genitals. These viruses often affect epithelial cells, which produce a much larger number of viral particles that infect neighboring cells and may be infect partner. However, the epithelial cells are rapidly affected by the T-lymphocytes are destroyed, and only in the case of suppressing local immunity, the virus reproduces in such quantities as to cause a rash.

The data indicate a much greater danger of carriers of HSV-2 to their sexual partners and explain the lack of efficacy of the reception carrier ant herpetic drugs to prevent infection partner.
